Privacy Policy

We respect your privacy. This policy explains how EpiJournal (the “App”) may handle data, your rights, and how to contact us.

Summary

Principle We follow a data-minimization approach and process data only as needed to provide the App’s features.

  • We do not sell your personal data.
  • The App may contain content you enter (e.g., notes, journal entries, tags). This is data you provide.
  • If you enable cloud sync (if available), data will be handled according to the rules of the selected provider (e.g., iCloud).

1. Scope

This policy applies to your use of the App. It does not apply to third-party services we do not control (e.g., Apple/iCloud or websites you visit via external links).

2. Data we may process

What we process depends on the features you use.

  • Content you enter: such as journal text, tags, timestamps, custom fields, and notes.
  • Device/usage data (may apply): crash logs and diagnostic/performance data (often provided by the OS/platform and may be aggregated or de-identified).
  • Support communications (if you contact us): email address, screenshots you provide, device model, iOS version, App version, etc.
Note If you don’t want to share sensitive information in support requests, please redact personal details in screenshots and messages.

3. How we use data

  • Provide and maintain features: display/search/organize the entries you create.
  • Improve quality and debug: investigate crashes, errors, and performance issues.
  • Customer support: respond to your requests and help troubleshoot.
  • Legal compliance: comply with applicable laws and lawful requests.

4. Data sharing

We do not share your personal data with third parties except in the following cases:

  • Third-party services you choose (if applicable): e.g., cloud sync or platform diagnostics, governed by their privacy policies.
  • With your explicit consent.
  • Legal requirements: court orders or lawful requests by authorities.

We do not sell your data and do not share personal data for third‑party advertising purposes.

5. Data retention & deletion

  • Retention: generally for as long as you use the App, or until you delete content, uninstall the App, or disable/remove the sync service you use (if applicable).
  • Deletion: you can delete the App or delete entries inside the App (depending on available features). If cloud sync is enabled, you may also need to delete data from the sync provider.

6. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We recommend using a device passcode/biometrics and keeping your system updated.

7. Children’s privacy

The App is not intended for children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you believe this has occurred, please contact us.

8. Your rights

Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict processing, and request data portability. To exercise these rights, contact us using the information below.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy due to feature changes or legal requirements. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date.
